I have just been tested positive to mindsettter. As part of the new face of Africa, it is my duty to lead a lifeline that is conscious of events around my loved ones and me.
Now, what do I mean by being conscious of events? As a parent, my duty is to lead the way for my wife/husband and kids and this is by leading with examples, exercising patience, showing empathy, showing love and not just acting it, express your feelings, going on interesting trips, participating in community development services, seek to know and understand the Supreme Manufacturer (God).
The family is the starting point for this vision (igniting and setting the mind) to be carried from generation to generation; that is why it is very necessary to imbibe the culture of consciousness and igniting the mindsets of our family members. For examples, while growing up in the 80s and 90s, our lifestyles were formed by our parents and grandparents; they had a say in virtually everything that happened to us, from the schools we attended, the courses we were to study, the religion we belonged, the type of friends we kept and what have you. All these factors formed us and took away consciousness from us. A lot of us never had the opportunity to discover of God-given talents because we have been formed into system that lacks the love for humanity.
Studies have revealed that many people choose the wrong career path just because their parents wanted them to study a course of their own choice and not the choice of their wards. This has continually limited the progress of young Africans and has taken us backwards. As the present carriers of this vision, our duty is to pass on the concept of mindset of consciousness to our children and this will facilitate the proliferation of our concept.
We as parents need to allow our children be who they want to be, do what they want to do – giving them the freewill and at the same time guiding them towards the right direction. This does not take away the role of parenting; rather it propels the act of humanity.
We source from God and that being confirmed should elevate us to the role of the “Good Shepherd”, where we sacrifice for the sheep and guide them along the right path and not imposing on them what to do. Our kids should be trained with this concept in order to prepare them for a proper takeover of the mantle of leadership.
